House Rules
Hotel Breukelen has a number of house rules that outline what is expected of its guests at Hotel Breukelen and what you can expect from us. Upon entering Hotel Breukelen, these house rules apply, and you agree to the house rules set out below.
All instructions from Hotel Breukelen staff relating to these house rules must be followed immediately.
ADDITIONAL HOUSE RULES:
- Anyone aged 18 or older can reserve a room. Both guests in any traveling party must be at least 18 years old.
1. GENERAL HOUSE RULES FOR YOUR AND OUR SAFETY
- Hotel Breukelen staff are responsible for your safety. In the event of an emergency, the emergency plan will be activated. You are kindly but urgently requested to follow any instructions from the staff. At Hotel Breukelen, we treat each other with respect and therefore it is forbidden to express insults or make discriminatory remarks. Sexual harassment of our guests and staff through words or gestures (actions) is also prohibited.
- To maintain peace, order, and safety at Hotel Breukelen, the use of violence or the threat of violence is prohibited.
- CCTV cameras are installed in various locations throughout the hotel. Everyone in our hotel consents to the recording of these cameras. In the event of emergencies and/or incidents, these recordings may be shown to third parties as supporting material.
- Lost and found items must be handed in at the reception desk.
- Do not leave your belongings unattended at Hotel Breukelen or in your car. Hotel Breukelen is not liable for loss, damage, or theft of your belongings.
- Parking, both in the parking lot and in the vicinity of Hotel Breukelen, is at your own risk. - Hotel Breukelen does not make its premises available for purposes other than those stipulated in our policy. Therefore, it is prohibited to trade goods, sell goods, or offer services. The amount of a room already paid will not be refunded.
- In all cases not provided for in these regulations, the management of Hotel Van der Valk Breukelen will decide.
2. FIRE
- In the event of a fire, always remain calm!
- Report the fire immediately to reception (press 9) or alert the staff by hitting the nearest fire alarm.
- Stay low to the ground in case of heavy smoke.
- Do not use the elevators under any circumstances.
- In the event of a general fire alarm, leave the building as quickly as possible.
- In the event of a fire, the instructions of the hotel staff and standard hotel procedures must be followed.
- A map showing the nearest emergency exits and instructions can be found on every hotel room door.
3. EMERGENCY EXITS
All emergency exits are clearly marked in the hallways and equipped with emergency lighting. Emergency exits are only to be used in the event of a fire or as directed by staff. Therefore, using the emergency exits as normal entrances and exits is not permitted.
4. ACCIDENT
In the event of an accident, call 112 immediately and report it to reception (press 9). Hotel Breukelen employs emergency response personnel. They are trained to assess certain situations and quickly initiate external professional assistance.
5. CHECK-IN
- Anyone aged 18 or older can reserve a room. Both guests in each travel group must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid identification must be presented at check-in.
- Check-in is available from 3:00 PM, and check-out must be completed by 11:00 AM. (Only guests staying in suites may check out daily until 12:00 PM.) Should you wish to extend your stay or request a late check-out (available until a maximum of 5:00 PM, applicable only to our standard rooms — not suites — and subject to availability), please notify the reception no later than 12:00 PM. The additional stay must also be settled by 12:00 PM, after which your room key will be revalidated accordingly.
- It is not permitted to have more guests in your room than booked. After 11:00 PM, it is not permitted to receive outside guests in your hotel room. Visitors are required to register at the reception desk.
- After 11:00 PM, the annex building is closed. Guests without a prior reservation can only be checked in in the main building.
6. CCTV
Cameras are installed in various locations within the hotel. Everyone in our hotel consents to the recording of these cameras. In the event of emergencies and/or incidents, these recordings may be shown to third parties as supporting material.
7. THEFT
Hotel Breukelen is not responsible for the loss or theft of your belongings.
8. LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
- You can contact the reception for lost and found items.
- Any food or drinks left in a checked-out room will be thrown away.
9. HOTEL PROPERTY
It is prohibited to: take hotel property outside the building. Intentional damage to Hotel Breukelen property may result in liability for repair and/or replacement costs.
10. DRUGS
- Hotel Breukelen must comply with the requirements of the Alcohol and Catering Act. Therefore, alcoholic beverages are not served to visitors under the age of 18. If there is any doubt about a visitor's age, Hotel Breukelen staff will ask you to show identification.
- To ensure a pleasant atmosphere during your stay, no alcohol will be served to the person suspected of intoxication. To ensure you and your party have a pleasant stay, it is prohibited to possess, use, or trade in (soft) drugs (including nitrous oxide cartridges or a hookah) or weapons.
11. WEAPONS
No one in our hotel is permitted to possess or carry weapons. If detected, the police and the authorities will be contacted.
12. NOISE DISTURBANCE (ZERO TOLERANCE)
To maintain peace and quiet in the immediate surroundings of Hotel Breukelen, it is strictly prohibited to cause any form of noise disturbance. Noise disturbance falls under our zero‑tolerance policy. If noise disturbance is detected (including loud music, shouting, or any other disruptive behaviour), you will be asked to leave the hotel immediately without prior warning, in order to safeguard the comfort of our other guests. No refunds will be issued.
13. ZERO TOLERANCE
It is not permitted to:
- Have more people in the room than the number included in the reservation. All guests must present valid identification at the reception.
- Smoke in the room. If we determine that smoking has taken place, we are obliged to charge a €150 cleaning fee. This fee also applies if the smoke detector has been covered or tampered with. If the fire alarm is triggered due to smoking in the room, the fire brigade call‑out fee of €275 will be charged to you.
- Light candles or tealights in the room.
- Cause any disturbance in or around the hotel through loud music, inappropriate behaviour, or noise of any kind.
- Consume, use, or trade narcotics.
- Consume, use, trade, or possess nitrous oxide and/or (whipped cream) cartridges.
- Rent a room under your name without staying in the room yourself.
We operate a zero‑tolerance policy. This means that if you do not comply with our house rules, you will be asked to leave the hotel immediately. No refunds will be issued, and any deposit paid will be fully withheld. By signing, you agree to comply with our house rules. Without a signature, we are unfortunately unable to check you in.
14. SUITES RULES
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the hotel. If this rule is violated, the hotel will charge you €250.00 for additional cleaning costs and/or damages incurred.
- Unregistered guests are not permitted in the room.
- Pets are not allowed in the suites.
- Lighting candles, incense, or shisha is strictly prohibited due to the fire alarm and fire hazard. (The security system will be activated immediately.)
- A maximum of 2 people are allowed in this room. If you wish to bring a baby, we can provide a cot for them for €7.50 per night. Check-out of this room is no later than 12:00 PM, after which we will inspect the room.
- Damage, loss, or destruction of hotel property will result in immediate removal, liability, and/or a police report.
- We require a €250.00 deposit by debit or credit card for room key issuance. This deposit will be returned upon check-out, provided the suite is left in good condition.
- A valid ID is required.
- The use, sale, or possession of narcotics (in any form) is prohibited. In the event of drug use or trafficking, the hotel management will contact the police and may proceed with removal without refund.
